Many people believe that if a black cat crosses their path, bad luck is sure to follow! However, this is one of the most common myths that you shouldn’t believe! Check out some other most common myths about cats to know!
1. Cats can see in the dark
One of the most common myths about cats is that they can see in the dark. Cats have a superb vision to see in the semi-darkness, but they can’t see in the complete darkness. Cat’s eye pupils become comprehensive in the dim light, and that makes them see everything clearly.
2. All cats like milk
Many of us believe that every cat loves to have milk, but it’s not true! Since cats can be lactose intolerant, too much milk can harm them. Milk is a high-quality source of calcium, so it’s not so good for cats. And too much milk can cause bladder stones or diarrhea in cats.
3. All cats don’t like water
This is another common myth about cats. Some cats really like water. Many cats hate water because their fur doesn’t insulate well when it’s wet. Some cats even love to play in the water, especially breeds like the Turkish Van.
4. Cats don’t need vet
Most cats have a weak immune system, and that’s why they easily fall ill. But cats don’t show any symptoms and signs of illness. When cats fall ill, they usually stay quiet and suppress themselves. Therefore, cats should be taken to a veterinarian for regular checkups once or twice a year.
5. Cats enjoy being outside
It’s absolutely not true! Since cats are susceptible to numerous infections and bird preys, they can’t really roam alone. It has been proved that indoor cats live much longer than their outdoor counterparts. Taking your cat out once in a while is good, but don’t leave your beloved pet alone to roam outdoors.
6. Cats have 9 lives
There is absolutely no truth whatsoever to this myth. Sure, cats have some power to walk away from a life-threatening situation, and that’s the reason why it’s assumed that cats have 9 lives. Most people think that cats get foreboding of death, and so take a rebirth. Like all other animals, cats have only one life to live.
7. Cats like to be alone
Many people think that dogs are more friendly than cats. But it is actually untrue. Cats like to receive and give affection. Cats love to be pampered, and they respond in the same ways as dogs do. Many cats really hate being left alone!
